Escalante Utah Petrified Wood designer gem 8/26/2021 01 - 58 x 23 x 4.7 mm - 41 carats - Ed Rupprecht, the man I learned to cab from was a serious rock hound and I was lucky enough to get to buy some of his treasured self collected rocks he hadn't the time to work himself.. not too surprising, as all rock hounds have their piles.. but Ed was special... and he had some wonderful stuff. This cab is cut from some of that material. It is one of the least flawed and most colorful fossil woods I have ever seen and the delicatly detailed patterns are breathtaking. I hiked the Escalante canyon as a boy scout and feel a real connection to this stunning gemstone. This designer paisley gem has a beautifully domed front, girdled sides and flat beveled back all with liquid high gloss luster. Near perfect.
