Boulder Dam Flower jasper designer gem 4/15/2021 01 - 57 x 23 x 6 mm - 61 carats - Here's something you've probably never seen. Dug by my 1st lapidary teacher Ed Rupprecht. Thank you! I have not been able to find any info online on this stone so it may be an Ed exclusive. Certainly a very rare rock. This was cut from a single small rough piece labeled "Boulder Dam Flower Jasper". Ed dug it on the Arizona side of the (now called) "Hoover" Dam near Las Vegas and Boulder City. The material has wonderful blossoms of rich ochre and red areas (most likely common opal not jasper..) with clear, highly reflective metallic areas not easy to photograph and best seen in person. Please watch the video clip below to get a better idea how pretty this metallic effect is. This large designer drop cabochon is the second stone I've cut from this material and there will not be many. It has a beautiful low dome, girdled sides and a flat beveled back all with beautiful glossy luster. Here's a short video clip to see the stone in motion: https://youtu.be/a3yGahxV4To $200.00 shipped to USA - paypal SOLD
