Pietersite calibrated oval gem cabochon 9/9/2020 01 - 40 x 30 x 5.2 mm - 52 carats - This beautiful stone is a rare type of swirled chatoyant tigereye, only found in Africa and China. It forms in three colors; Red, Gold, Blue and sometimes all in one piece. This material is from China and has lovely red and gold chatoyant colors. I rarely cut from a template or use a stencil but to cut the most perfect circles and ovals I generally do. This is a very accurately template cut standard 40 x 30 sized oval - exact measurement is 39.91 x 29.97 - possibly the closet I've come to perfection in shape and size. This gem has a beautifully rounded medium dome, classic rounded sides and flat beveled back all with excellent high gloss luster.
