Wave Hill Agate freeform gem cabochon 7/1/2020 01 - 43 x 26 x 4.3 mm - 35 carats - This is my favorite agate to cut and this gem is cut from a very gemmy and translucent piece with the most lively and dramatic parallax (aka shadow) effect I've seen in agate. "Parallax" is a play of light that creates an play of light illusion that looks similar to chatoyance in Tigereye. This stone is a sister to a similar stone cut a while back. This agate comes from the Northern Territory badlands of Australia and is rare enough that it's difficult to get. I've recently heard mining is no longer allowed as the land is owned by aboriginal people. This beautiful freeform drop marquis gem is a pleasure to hold and behold. It sports a low, beautifully rounded dome, girdled sides and a flat beveled back all with excellent high gloss luster. Here is a video clip to see the stone in motion: https://youtu.be/BnUvWJpGSPQ $120.00 shipped to USA - paypal SOLD
