Native Silver in Cobaltite designer gem 6/6/2020 01 - 52 x 17 x 4.6 mm - 72 carats - This is one pretty cabochon. This material comes from Cobalt in Ontario, Canada and was mined pre-WW ll. This cabochon is a fantastic mostly silvery metallic with some web-like patterns of contrasting black matrix and white calcite. This graceful piece was difficult to photograph since the silvery surface is nearly like a mirror. But as you can see from the pictures and video clip, it has an excellent medium dome, girdled sides and a flat beveled back, all with excellent luster in an elegant designer tear drop shape.
