Apache Chrysocolla designer gem 3/20/2018 01 - 42 x 23 x 5.2
mm - 45 carats - This cabochon is cut from one of the most
beautiful and rare stone I know of. I consider Apache
Chrysocolla as the holy grail of chrysocolla. It is said to
come from an old worked out copper mine in Mexico and there
is nothing I know of that is quite like it. This stunning,
very rare stone is made up of many different minerals
including Chrysocolla, Malachite, Shattuckite, Turquoise,
Calcite, Cuperite, Hematite, Quartz, Linarite, Silver and
even Gold. Many years ago it made the cover of Rock and Gem
magazine. These days there is very little of this on the
market and the price has skyrocketed. This is old, high
grade material. This stone has all the colors and metallics
that make this material so desirable. It has a low, nicely
rounded dome, girdled sides and a curved beveled back all
with a satin and metallic luster and a few surface flaws.
