Native Copper in Campbellite designer gem 2/28/2017 01 - 48
x 20 x 4.4 mm - 42 carats - This very rare and very
expensive material comes from the Campbell Shaft, in Bisbee,
Arizona and is stunning to look at, even in the rough. It
has been a long time since anything has been mined there and
this material is very rare. It's notoriously difficult to
photograph but I had some luck with the photos. However,
this gorgeous material is even more brightly copper colored
in person - very flashy. You can see little spots of red
cuperite and blue chrysocolla around the bright copper in
the blue-ish white matrix. This large, top quality designer
shield cabochon has a low, beautifully domed front,
generously girdled sides and a beveled flat back all with
outstanding high gloss luster and a gleaming copper metallic
