Native Copper in Campbellite designer gem 2/28/2017 01 - 48 x 20 x 4.4 mm - 42 carats - This very rare and very expensive material comes from the Campbell Shaft, in Bisbee, Arizona and is stunning to look at, even in the rough. It has been a long time since anything has been mined there and this material is very rare. It's notoriously difficult to photograph but I had some luck with the photos. However, this gorgeous material is even more brightly copper colored in person - very flashy. You can see little spots of red cuperite and blue chrysocolla around the bright copper in the blue-ish white matrix. This large, top quality designer shield cabochon has a low, beautifully domed front, generously girdled sides and a beveled flat back all with outstanding high gloss luster and a gleaming copper metallic flash.
